Top 5 Reasons Why Not Getting a Water Filter Will Kill You
You may be one of those who may walk by the water filter section and think to yourself "I'll probably get one of those someday." If you're thinking about getting one someday anyway, perhaps it is best to get one now. You may not realize the horrific substances that you and your family are consuming every time you drink from the kitchen sink without a filter, also called tap water. We will discuss the top 5 benefits of a water filter and you will see how a water filter will save the life of you and your family.
Lead is one of the worst poisons your body can encounter. It blocks the transport of oxygen and calcium to your cells. It also affects all of your body parts, especially your brain. It is very likely that in order to die from consuming unfiltered water you would have to be drinking it non-stop for a month straight, because the amount of lead in unfiltered water is so low. Having said that, every time that you do consume tap water, you cause permanent damage to your brain, this is especially so with younger children. The reason that we do not die very quickly from tap water is that because we consume it only a few times per day, this gives our system time to try and get rid of the poisons. The nice thing is that most, if not all, water filters remove very nearly all of the lead from the water. In fact the difference between your child drinking tap water and filtered water for the first 5 years of their life can mean the difference between a child that excels in all of his or her academic studies and a child that will struggle through the simplest of subjects.
One of the worst problems with tap water is the high level of chlorine that it contains. Chlorine in itself is a very poisonous substance even in very small quantities. The problem is even worse because of the fact that the government allows companies that have chlorine wastes to dump that chlorine into our drinking water. This causes our intake of chlorine to be way too high because the dose never stops; our liver doesn't even have time to clean out your system. You are constantly consuming water as water is in almost everything that we drink or eat. Our bodies are overwhelmed with the high amount of chlorine that is forced into it.
The leading medical research facilities all cry out that the leading causes of sickness, including cancer, obesity, stomach ulcers and liver problems, in America is the high toxicity of our water, specifically chlorine. In fact the US cdc.gov (Google "how dangerous is chlorine") lists chlorine as "a substance that was used in the World War I as a choking (pulmonary) agent...its most important use is as a bleach...it is also used to make pesticides (insect killers), rubber, and solvents. Chlorine is used in drinking water and swimming pool water to kill harmful bacteria. It is also used as part of the sanitation process for industrial waste and sewage." Chlorine can cause "coughing, chest tightness, burning sensation in the nose, throat, and eyes, watery eyes, blurred vision, nausea and vomiting...difficulty breathing or shortness of breath...fluid in the lungs (pulmonary edema) within 2 to 4 hours...chronic bronchitis may develop." And "No antidote exists for chlorine exposure." Are you kidding? Used as a chocking agent? Causes pulmonary edema? No antidote exists for chlorine exposure? All of this is found on the US government website admitting that they put chlorine into our water? A water filter gets rid of this stuff from ever getting to your system.
Cancer is perhaps the real reason why this editorial was written because more and more research institutions produce evidence that tap water is the number one reason for cancer in the world. Tap water contains over 2,300 known cancer causing toxins, such as fluoride. In America's highly industrialized society we use over 80,000 toxic chemicals every day and over 1000 new ones are being developed every year. We are learning the hard way that all of the chemicals we use will ultimately show up in the water we drink. There is no "new water"; this planet keeps recycling the same water over and over. As we use more synthetic chemicals, their levels in our water supplies increase proportionately. In contrast to popular belief, our water treatment facilities were not designed to take out synthetic or organic chemicals and toxic heavy metals like lead. Municipal water treatment today is essentially the same as it was over 100 years ago, the water flows through sand beds to remove visible particles and then bleach (chlorine) is added to kill most of the bacteria. Municipal water treatment does not filter out the synthetic chemicals, our bodies do. 75 years ago, before all of these chemicals were present in our environment, 1 out of 50 Americans would get cancer in their lives. Now, 1 in 3 Americans, 1 in 2 males, will become cancer victims! 1 in 8 women get breast cancer, childhood cancers have increased 300% in just the last 20 years. If you have a water filter installed your family is protected from these cancer causing agents. *
Water filters protect us from bacteria, pathogens like, e-coli, and even viruses. I just wanted to quickly touch on this as chlorine fairly effectively kills this stuff. However, some of it can still survive. I'm sure you've heard about how horrible something like e-coli (escherichia coli) is but if you haven't, e-coli is the most dangerous for those whose immune systems are not fully developed or are not at its tip-top condition; specifically children, elderly and those who have been just recently or are currently sick with another illness. It is possible for sufferers to experience complete kidney failure or other complications, such as paralysis, blindness and seizures. A water filter is effective at getting rid of these dangerous organisms. With a water filter that is one thing less to worry about.
Water filters protect us from disasters such as chemical spills into our water supply. Once in a while we hear on the news about a chemical spill or some other industrial disaster or accident and unfortunately those disasters are what can affect our tap water in the most dangerous ways. Those who rely on our century outdated industrial water filtration system will be unable to protect themselves or their family. Those with a water filter have nothing to worry about.
So I guess the question is, how much are yours and your family's life worth to you? Isn't it worth the 50 bucks it takes to buy a faucet filter? Pur or Brita are the most common and generally most convenient because you can buy a replacement (about which will last you 1-2 months) at a Walgreens or Rite Aid, however there are many options to choose from. It is with the greatest urgency and concern that I ask you to take the time to research water filters and figure out which options are best for your family. I hope the next time you walk by the water filter section you can smile knowing that you have done your part in protecting yourself and, perhaps more importantly, your family.

PUR Water Filters Reviews - Do They Tell You Everything About PUR?
PUR water filters reviews, do they tell you everything about PUR, is a very good question. Here's what some of the best review websites had to say about the pitcher:
they produce good tasting water the pitcher can be stored in the refrigerator the filter will need to be replaced regularly tests show they filter twenty one contaminants including giardia and cryptospodium
The last comment puts them slightly ahead of the Brita jug whose filtration does not manage cysts, but when you consider there are more than two thousand possible toxins in your drinking water, does this go far enough?
Faucet-filter reviews
People usual choose a faucet mounted filter if they need more water than a dispenser of pitcher/jug can provide. Reports indicate:
they are easy to install and come with a straightforward guide you can switch between unfiltered and filtered via a bypass valve three-stage-filters are the best option for water taste they clog easily changing filters is awkward the rate of flow is slow
These machines are said to filter-out many more contaminants than their competitors models, this doesn't inspire much optimism for the competitors!
Under sink models don't seem to fare any better and the main thing this brand has to offer is the novelty flavor options, which are sure to be a hit with the children.
Whether you are an American or live in Canada or Australia, a review appears to have little to offer regarding the things that really concern you. It does not tell you if the components are well made or not. This criticism also applies equally to some distillation and reverse osmosis systems even in some other big brand names such as:
Culligan Whirlpool (wher25) Avantapure Kinetico
It's necessary to remember the review comments mentioned above came from a serious website, you will also come across overhyped marketing copy that is full of totally useless jargon. Then there will be those from the everyday housewife who loves the taste of the water and is impressed with how quickly the plumber or her husband was able to fit the appliance.
But are you concerned about your health?
For those concerned about their health, PUR water filters reviews and some of the others really fall short of being informative.
You also need to consider that various filtration machines are made for different purposes according to the source of your water, so you really need to know their capabilities. The only way to do this is to read the performance data and compare individual brands, but this can be time consuming.
Other facts not mentioned in a review:
seventy percent of all chlorine that enters your body does so via your skin, not from the water you drink some units contain silver nitrate alongside the carbon, which is detrimental to your health some methods of purification will leave you with demineralized water, which again is not good for your health you would be better off with a multi filtration whole house system
As you can see from the above, you cannot learn everything about the product by just reading PUR water filters reviews, you need much more detailed information which examines the different filters in detail.
